United States President Donald Trump has said that the leaders of Israel and Lebanon are expected to speak on Thursday in what could be the first direct high-level political contact between the two sides in more than three decades.

The announcement came through Trump’s social media platform late Wednesday, where he said efforts were underway to create “breathing room” between the two countries amid continued military escalation along the Lebanon-Israel border.

While Trump suggested that a rare leader-level conversation could take place, neither Israeli nor Lebanese authorities had officially confirmed such talks at the time of reporting.

Rare Diplomatic Opening Amid Ongoing Hostilities

According to international media reports, the development follows recent diplomatic engagement in Washington, D.C., where Israeli and Lebanese diplomatic representatives reportedly held direct discussions for the first time in over 30 years.
