Kharge Slams Modi Government Over Indore Water Tragedy, Says Public Paying the Price

Yugcharan News — Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has sharply criticised the Modi government over the deaths linked to contaminated drinking water in Indore, alleging that the Centre has failed to ensure basic necessities like clean water and clean air. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent despite repeatedly highlighting flagship programmes such as the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Referring to Indore’s reputation as India’s “cleanest city,” Kharge said it was deeply shameful that residents were forced to consume unsafe water, leading to a deadly diarrhoea outbreak. He further alleged widespread misgovernance and corruption in government schemes, claiming that ordinary citizens continue to suffer while authorities focus on image-building rather than accountability.
