B*mb Threats Trigger Evacuations at Multiple Schools in Delhi, Security Checks Underway

At least five schools in the national capital were placed on high alert on Thursday after receiving bomb threats, prompting immediate evacuation measures and extensive security checks by police and emergency services, officials said.

The threats were reported during the morning hours, leading school authorities to alert law enforcement agencies without delay. As a precautionary measure, students and staff were either evacuated from school premises or moved to designated safe zones while anti-sabotage operations were carried out.

    Schools Affected

According to officials from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), bomb threat alerts were received by multiple educational institutions across different parts of the city. These included:

    • Loreto Convent School, located in Delhi Cantonment

    • Don Bosco School in Chittaranjan Park

    • Carmel Convent School campuses in Anand Niketan and Dwarka

In addition, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in the Lodhi Estate area separately informed parents that it had also received a security threat earlier in the day.

    Emergency Response Activated

Upon receiving the alerts, Delhi Police, fire department teams, and specialised security units were deployed to the affected locations. Bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted systematic searches of classrooms, corridors, assembly areas, and open spaces within the campuses.

A senior DFS official said that standard operating procedures were immediately put into effect. “Our teams reached the sites promptly and carried out thorough checks in coordination with the police. As of now, no suspicious objects have been detected, and searches are continuing as a precaution,” the official stated.

    Communication With Parents

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya issued a message to parents confirming that a threat had been received and that authorities were notified without delay. The school administration said a comprehensive inspection of the campus was carried out by the bomb squad.

Following the security clearance, the school informed parents that the premises had been declared safe. “Student safety remains our highest priority. All necessary protocols were followed promptly and responsibly. Classes will continue as scheduled,” the message conveyed.

Officials at other schools also maintained communication with parents, providing updates on evacuation measures and the status of security checks.

    Students Moved to Safe Areas

Police sources said that in some schools, students and staff were temporarily moved to open grounds or secure locations nearby while the searches were ongoing. In other cases, classes were suspended briefly until safety checks were completed.

Authorities emphasised that the evacuations were conducted as a preventive measure and urged the public to remain calm while investigations continued.

    Investigation Underway

The Delhi Police have initiated an inquiry to trace the source of the threats. Cyber and technical teams are examining communication records to determine whether the messages were hoaxes or part of a coordinated attempt to create panic.

Officials said such threats are treated with utmost seriousness, particularly when educational institutions are involved. “Even if previous cases have turned out to be hoaxes, each alert is verified thoroughly to ensure there is no risk to life,” a police officer involved in the operation said.

    Rising Concern Over Hoax Threats

In recent years, Delhi and other major cities have witnessed a rise in hoax bomb threats targeting schools, airports, and public buildings. Security agencies have repeatedly warned that such incidents strain emergency resources and disrupt essential services.

Authorities have urged institutions and citizens to report suspicious messages immediately and avoid circulating unverified information that could cause panic.

    Situation Normalising

By late morning, security checks at several of the affected schools were nearing completion, with officials reporting no signs of explosives or hazardous materials. Police presence remained in the areas as a precautionary measure.

Further updates are expected once the investigation into the origin of the threats progresses.
